R&D Engineer

R&D Engineer

Working every day at sea, Allseas sees first-hand how plastic accumulates in the world’s oceans with devastating effect to fish and marine life. Plastic pollution is a global problem, and we are committed to the effort to clean our oceans by developing technologies and systems to collect the waste in rivers and waterways before it flows out to sea.

Within our Innovations Department, a team of dedicated engineers is leading the way, collaborating with national and local authorities across Europe to create collection systems tailored to specific waterways. Two systems are already in place, “Catchy” in the Vijfsluizerhaven in Schiedam and “Patje Plastic” in the Port of Antwerp. The collected waste from these systems is analysed in our lab to gain more insight in the types of waste present in rivers, and more specifically in the types of plastic waste.

Our main objective is to contribute to a clean and healthy living environment in our rivers, seas and oceans by providing technology and solutions. We collect plastic litter from rivers with our systems, gather knowledge about the types and amount of plastic pollution, identify the possible sources and the pollution and also look into post-processing solutions for this waste.

For the LIFE Soupless project we have made several commitments, amongst others the pilot project for installing and testing of a third system and the two systems that are in operation require support.
