Heavy Lift Engineer

Heavy Lift Engineer

To stay ahead of the industry, we are developing tomorrow’s technology today, transforming bold ideas into state-of-the-art solutions to meet the market’s ever changing needs. Do you trust your own vision, dare to do things that have not been done before and have the courage to pursue it? Then join the thinkers, leaders and visionaries at Allseas!

We have an exciting opportunity for a talented and ambitious starting Heavy Lift Engineer to join our heavy lift engineering project teams. With a creative and multidisciplinary mix of junior and senior Heavy Lift Engineers, Structural Engineers, Naval Engineers and Draftsmen, this team performs all the engineering and feasibility analyses required for a safe and economical project executing by Allseas heavy lift fleet, mainly using Pioneering Spirit.

Based in Delft, the Netherlands, you oversee the concept, basic and detailed engineering phases for the single-lift removal or installation of topsides and jacket structures up to 48,000 ton for both the oil & gas and renewable industries. Working closely with Unit Heads and Lead Engineers, you will go into the details of every part of project predations, ensuring the actual execution will be a success.

Your role

This is a challenging role for an assertive and hands-on engineer who wants to participate in record-breaking projects, executed by the ground-breaking heavy lift vessel Pioneering Spirit. We are looking for a determined, stress-resistant self-starter who dares to do things differently than the industry standard, can adapt quickly, and do everything necessary to get the job done. Is that you?

What will you be doing?

  • Prepare how we would do it: write method and execution statements for heavy lift projects
  • See in real life how it should look like: Perform offshore platform inspections to confirm platform condition and required preparation scope, do yard and vessel visits to check feasibilities and assist the crew on board of our vessels during the actual execution.
  • Get your ideas across the table:
    • Interface with various disciplines (project team, vessel crew, subcontractors, certification authorities, marine warranty surveyor) to define efficient and cost effective solutions and provide ongoing engineering support
    • Frequent client contact to ensure all requirements are met and stakeholders are enthusiastic about your work
  • Working on all phases of a large project execution: platform preparations, leg cutting, offshore lift, offshore transportation, transfer to barge, yard preparations and load-in
  • A lifelong learning: Keep up to date with the development of specialised equipment for removal and installation operations

What we expect from you

This exciting opportunity calls for a hands-on engineer eager to pull on their work gear and head offshore. The chance to visit offshore platforms and use Pioneering Spirit’s revolutionary toolset for record-breaking lifts should be enough to get your energy going while constantly learning through your involvement in a wide variety of technically challenging projects.

We are looking for a self-starter with the self-confidence to apply his or hers creative and analytical skills who has the confidence to challenge the industry standard. Someone who dares to do things differently and can challenge the industry standard and can adapt quickly, communicate clearly and do everything necessary to get the job done.
Besides this, the ideal candidate has

  • MSc degree in Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, or Maritime Engineering or equivalent
  • 1-5 years relevant work experience
  • Excellent English skills
  • Willingness to work offshore and get your ideas across the table are a given

What we offer you

  • The chance to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, with creative thinking, collaboration and down-to-earth culture at its core.
  • Enjoyment in using the world’s largest vessel as your Swiss knife
  • Getting your boots on the ground on vessels or on offshore platforms should get your energy going
  • Keen on seeing the things you are talking about in real life, in an offshore environment, rather than a screen only
  • Deadlines should be an energy gainer
  • Competitive industry benchmarked salary and excellent pension
  • Performance based salary raises and bonuses
  • 30 holidays days per year, flexible working hours
  • Extensive training and development programme, study budgets and coaching
  • Internal clubs, committees, parties and (sportive) events
