Join our team as a Junior Data Engineer and embark on a journey of learning and growth in the world of data engineering. You will work closely with senior team members on projects that transform raw data into actionable insights, contributing to our strategic decisions. With tools like Azure, Terraform, Databricks, Kafka, DBT, and PowerBI, you will support the development and maintenance of data ETL processes, batch operations, streaming pipelines, and our innovative data lakehouse architecture. Your efforts will improve data accessibility and usability for teams across our offices and vessels around the globe. Engage in collaborative projects, absorbing IT best practices and contributing to our cutting-edge solutions.
Other job specific tasks:
Developing scalable ETL batch processes using Azure services, focusing on Databricks.
Support the implementation of real-time data streaming pipelines for IoT device data processing with Kafka, Azure IoT, and technologies like Flink, Spark Streaming or Azure Stream Analytics.
Help build and maintain a data lakehouse architecture with Delta Lake tables, learning efficient data management techniques.
Create and maintain PowerBI dashboards and reports, gaining insights into data visualization and actionable intelligence for business stakeholders.
Work alongside cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and support the translation into data solutions, aligning with organizational goals.
Learn about data governance and quality standards to help maintain the integrity and security of our data infrastructure.
Engage in monitoring, troubleshooting, and refining data architectures under the guidance of experienced engineers, adapting to business and technical evolutions.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Junior Data Engineer who thrives in a team setting and is eager to learn and grow in the data engineering field. Your willingness to explore automated testing of data pipelines will contribute to the high quality of our data infrastructure. A foundational knowledge in IT and a keen interest in data engineering practices will make you a great fit for this role. You should be quick to adapt to change, eager to learn new technologies, and possess good communication skills. Collaboration and proactivity are key to your success in our team.
Besides that, you have:
A recent HBO/BSc degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or be in the process of obtaining one.
A basic understanding of cloud services (preferably Azure), and an interest in learning more about Databricks, Kafka, and PowerBI.
An eagerness to learn about data engineering best practices, including data lakehouse architectures, Delta Lake tables, SQL, and programming languages such as Python for data processing.
A problem-solving mindset and the ability to work well under mentorship to meet objectives.
Good communication skills in English and the ability to work effectively in teams.
An interest in agile methodologies and a desire to learn tools like Jira, Azure DevOps, Git, and Terraform.
