We are seeking a Risk and Safety Engineer to help play a pivotal role in safeguarding our operations. Help us identify and mitigate potential risks, ensuring the safety of our workforce and our assets. Your expertise will help drive a culture of safety excellence, impacting our organization's success.

Reporting to the Risk and Safety Engineer’s role will contribute to Allseas’ systems and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance, adequacy of Allseas vessel Safety Cases, and assist in the safe operation of the vessel fleet.

Your role

This is a broad-based role including all Allseas vessels and will be required to undertake the following:

  • Lead the review, revision and development of Allseas’ vessel Safety Cases in accordance with relevant legislative requirements.

  • Technical writing of safety cases in conjunction with other Allseas personnel

  • Management of consultants as necessary to assist in the development of safety cases

  • Conduct and coordinate Formal Safety Assessments (FSAs) studies, including Hazard Identification studies (HAZID), qualitative risk assessments, Safety Management Studies, in accordance with Allseas’ risk management framework, Safety Cases and legislative requirements.

  • Prepare, coordinate and conduct Technical Compliance audits in accordance with the Allseas’ audit framework, Safety Cases and legislative requirements.

  • Have input into the review and revision of the Allseas Safety Management System documentation.

  • Be the focal point for and liaise with relevant regulatory bodies, including NOPSEMA, State and Territory regulators as appropriate such as DMIRS, NT Worksafe and other stakeholders

  • Identify engineering controls and improvements following incidents, hazard reports and risk assessments in relation to safety case activities

  • Facilitate safety risk assessment studies and monitor actions to completion Supporting decision making to demonstrate ALARP

  • Compile reports summarising the overall ALARP demonstration

  • Contribute to the development of standards, procedures / processes, guidelines and training materials for the effective implementation of the Safety cases and

  • Monitor H&S statutory and system compliance requirements in relation to Safety case requirements

What we expect from you

  • Proven experience in the development of Safety Cases for a range of facilities/industries (e.g. vessels, offshore/onshore facilities, subsea infrastructure, pipelines, diving, construction/installation).

  • Development of technical risk and safety studies such as Fire and Explosion Analysis (FEA).

  • Facilitate HAZID, ALARP and other risk assessment workshops.

  • Extensive knowledge of the structure, plant and equipment, operational realities, regulations and business drivers within the oil and gas, marine and related major hazard industries.

  • Tertiary qualifications in WHS, risk, process engineering, process safety management or related field Experience in ore processing or related industry

  • Knowledge of Australian and applicable international codes and standards as well as the applicable statutory requirements

  • Safety in design engineering experience

  • Experience with definition and application of control measures and performance standards Experience in delivery and facilitation of process safety studies

  • Excellent engagement skills across all business levels and with both staff and contractors

  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) - highly considered

  • Background in risk facilitation and client facing role;

  • High attention to detail and good technical writing skills;

  • Advanced level of competency for all Microsoft Word and Excel;

  • Ability to rapidly learn and understand new software programs;

  • Self-motivation, time management skills, ability to work on multiple projects and deliver on schedule;

  • Ability to work in a small team environment;

  • Good communication skills;

Australian citizen or Permanent Resident.
