For our multidisciplinary Innovations Department in Delft/Enschede, the Netherlands we are looking for a (Junior/Senior) Structural Engineer. In this role you are responsible for the structural development and design of new and/or modified equipment for Allseas vessels. From design to fabrication to commissioning, you are involved in the whole development process. 

A few examples of projects that our structural engineers worked on:

• JLS; this is calculated and designed by the structural department
• Nodule collector; main frame collector is calculated and designed by the structural department

For our multidisciplinary Innovations Department in Delft/Enschede, the Netherlands we are looking for a (Junior/Senior)Structural Engineer. At the structural department you work together with 14 colleagues, mostly with a proven track record in the field. The group is divided over Delft and Enschede. In this inspiring environment, surrounded by dedicated results-oriented engineers and designers, there are numerous possibilities to develop yourself quickly. From the moment that you start at Allseas, a mentor will provide guidance and support. As your career develops, you will take on bigger and more challenging projects, lead a team of engineers and mentor your own new starters to make their success happen.

Your role

• Analyse and prepare project specifications for construction or conversion of vessels, lifting appliances or special equipment needed for polymetallic nodule collection,
• Develop equipment for our renewables market such as wind turbines installation or river waste removal,
• Prepare designs, design calculations (and reports) for all structural design work within scope, budget and schedule,
• Identify the risks and consequences of the vessel or equipment related to the strength/ stability/safety/class approval, etc.
• Perform hand and detailed calculations using FEM analysis,
• Prepare plans and procedures for the installation and inspection of equipment and discuss these procedures with the project team and the offshore personnel responsible for the execution,
• Liaise with project teams, subcontractors, crew, clients and certification authorities’
• Opportunity to stay on board our vessels as a Field Engineer and provide installation support

What we expect from you

• MSc degree in Mechanical, Civil or Aerospace Engineering,
• 0-5 years’ relevant work experience,
• Strong analytical skills and technical insight,
• Creative and resilient mind-set,
• Good command of the English language, both written and spoken,
• Willingness to work offshore occasionally, depending on the nature of your project.
