Senior HSE Officer

We are looking for a Senior HSE Officer to join our dynamic fabrication site in Heijningen, the Netherlands. The HSE Officer is the primary contact for all QHSE matters on site and ensures that all activities are carried out in accordance with the company safety policies and procedures. As a Senior HSE Officer, you will be part of the Site Support Team consisting of six professionals.

In this role it is your responsibility to bring the safety of our site to a higher level by putting our safety plan into action and promoting HSE awareness on the yard.

Your role

In the role of Senior HSE Officer you act as lead in work risk assessments and incident investigation, and investigate and report unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, near misses and incidents. You issue Permits to Work and verify implementation of the permit at the workplace and assist in implementation and compliance with company emergency services (BHV).

Besides this, your tasks are to

  • Act as Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (Veiligheidsadviseur Vervoer Gevaarlijke Stoffen (ADR))
  • Monitor storage and handling of dangerous goods and waste
  • Co-ordinate safety training for all personnel
  • Organise and chair monthly safety meetings
  • Provide all new personnel and visitors with Basic Safety Induction
  • Carry out daily rounds and maintain a log with findings if applicable

What we expect from you

For this role we are looking for candidate with a can-do mentality and a strong sense of responsibility. The ideal candidate will have worked as a HSE Officer on busy yards or construction sites and possess excellent communication skills. 

To be successful in this role you have the ability in bringing people together, have a helicopter view and are accessible to employees at all levels across the organisation. Because of the work experience you have built up, you can work at HBO level.

You have

  • MBO-4 Veiligheidskunde 
  • NEBOSH certification or equivalent is expected
  • 5-10 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience in writing policies and procedures for safety, health and environmental reporting
  • Qualified in conducting data analysis and reporting statistics
  • Excellent knowledge of legislations and procedures
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good command of Dutch and English, both written and spoken
