Design Engineer

Design Engineer

Enschede is the company’s plastics production hub, developing and creating key components for complex subsea pipeline infrastructure installed by our state-of-the-art vessels. Whether flowline VIV suppression strakes for free span mitigation, protection shells for piggy-backed pipe or polypropylene sheets for field joint coating, the products are designed and manufactured by our Enschede team.

Your role

As an entry-level Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing project-critical plastic components. Working in close collaboration with colleagues in the Pipeline Production and Field Joint Coating teams, you translate technical specifications into practical and sustainable designs and supervise the process of mould construction and production start-up. You perform analyses and quality checks to ensure the performance and integrity of the components and set up and participate in testing and validating the designs in a test environment.

What you will do

  • Design plastic components, such as fittings, connectors and fasteners, using CAD software;
  • Perform technical calculations and analysis to assess and test the strength and stiffness of components;
  • Prepare technical documentation, such as design reports and specifications, according to internal and external standards and guidelines;
  • Draft test procedures and support the testing and validation of in-house designs in a test environment;
  • Analyse and report test results and make improvement proposals;
  • Start-up and supervise workshop production on our modern production lines with 2 injection moulding machines, a 2-layer sheet extrusion line and a coating station with 5-axis robot.

With sufficient accumulated knowledge/experience, you will have the opportunity to progress to internal project manager for the entire validation and production of the requested components.

What we expect from you

  • Completed college degree in mechanical engineering or similar;
  • Knowledge of CAD software (Inventor), Ansys Workbench, Autodesk Vault or Matlab;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Accurate worker with eye for details;
