Construction of Allseas’ new cargo barge officially started

Construction of Allseas’ new cargo barge Braveheart officially started today (10 July) at the CIMC Changhong shipyard in Zhoushan, China. The yard is marked the event with a steel cutting ceremony, attended by Senior Construction Manager Thom Jaspers.

The same length (200 m) and width (57 m) as Iron Lady, the new barge is also being custom-built to fit precisely inside the bow slot of Pioneering Spirit for topsides transfers. A flat deck will facilitate direct on-deck load skidding without the need for project-specific skid tracks, and full electric ballast system for load transfer operations.

Delivery of the completed barge is expected end of 2025.
