“Lorelay” returns to the Caribbean

Lorelay made a triumphant return to the Caribbean, showcasing exceptional performance as our skilled project team and crew completed a platform-to-platform pipeline off Trinidad’s southeastern coast in just 10 days.

Awarded in mid-2024, this fast-track project again demonstrates Allseas’ ability to deliver under tight timelines, engineering and installing the 22-kilometre, 16-inch multiphase line to meet first gas commitments for an offshore development in 2025.

Running at depths of 60–70 metres, the concrete-coated pipeline connects a newly installed platform to existing infrastructure. Lorelay kicked off operations in December, expertly placing 139 mattresses to cross and protect existing subsea pipelines.

For the first time in our 40-year pipelay history, Allseas successfully deployed the innovative ‘bowstring’ start-up method – connecting the pipeline start-up head directly to the platform jacket leg – underscoring our crew’s versatility and technical expertise.

With the pipeline delivered on time and to spec, Lorelay returns to Rotterdam for her lifetime extension, and to prepare for exciting new challenges – including Porthos, the world’s first commercial carbon capture pipeline.
