Geotechnical Engineer - Senior

We are currently looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Geotechnical Unit. As part of our Innovations Department based in Delft, the Netherlands, the Geotechnical Unit is a knowledge centre providing hands-on engineering and project support. We advise our proposal and project teams on geotechnical issues, and prepare phases of the offshore operations executed by Allseas’ vessels and equipment. We act responsible for sustainable sea bedded operations and everything that lives in the sea. We want you to reinforce our team with principal knowledge and experience in the geotechnical field as well as new ideas for next generation offshore projects.

You will assist in the delivery of geotechnical input for a diverse and complex array of subjects such as pipeline trenching, anchor capacity, piled & suction installed foundations, dredging, analysis of pile and mud mat removal forces and deep-sea nodule collection as well designing and developing new products and processes that advance the capabilities and increase the efficiencies of Allseas’ equipment. Along the way you’ll share your knowledge and experience to further mature the specialism of your younger team members in the unit.

You recognise yourselves in having a strong knowledge of soil mechanics and experience in the preparation of geotechnical reports and design documents. As part of a highly skilled, multidisciplinary engineering team, you will have the ability to successfully multi-task and be comfortable and experienced working in a fast moving and high paced environment. Your role

  • Provide the geotechnical engineering aspects of tenders, studies and projects, for the Renewable and Oil & Gas markets
  • Coach and develop junior geotechnical engineers on various projects
  • Interpret and use offshore site investigation data to prepare offshore operations including cost and time estimates, identify opportunities and risks and develop new equipment 
  • Complete offshore trenching and rock dumping assessments
  • Support and actively participate in continuous improvement of procedures and equipment
  • Perform and evaluate prototype tests and contribute to research projects

What we expect from you

  • BSc or MSc degree in Geotechnical Engineering or relevant discipline
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience with geotechnical engineering and engineering activities, preferably in the offshore industry
  • Proven knowledge in the field of geotechnical engineering and awareness of other disciplines and project phases 
  • Experienced in working in teams of engineers and designers, in order to produce efficient results
  • Good command of the English language, both written and spoken
