Geotechnical Engineer

We are currently looking for a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Geotechnical Unit. As part of our Innovations Department based in Delft, the Netherlands, the Geotechnical Unit is a knowledge centre providing hands-on engineering and project support. We advise our proposal and project teams on geotechnical issues, and prepare phases of the offshore operations executed by Allseas’ vessels and equipment. We act responsible for sustainable sea bedded operations and everything that lives in the sea. We want you to reinforce our team with new ideas for next generation offshore projects.

You will assist in the delivery of geotechnical input for a diverse and complex array of subjects such as pipeline trenching, anchor capacity, piled & suction installed foundations, dredging, analysis of pile and mud mat removal forces and deep-sea nodule collection as well designing and developing new products and processes that advance the capabilities and increase the efficiencies of Allseas’ equipment. Along the way you’ll gain experience and develop your knowledge as specialist.

Your role

  • Provide the geotechnical engineering aspects of tenders and projects, for the Renewable and Oil & Gas markets
  • Prepare offshore operations including cost and time estimates, identify opportunities and risks, develop new equipment and safe working procedures, prepare and co-ordinate fabrication and commissioning
  • Support and actively participate in continuous improvement of procedures and equipment
  • Acquire and grow a sound knowledge of geotechnical design related to offshore installation, removal and dredging operations, and the functioning and design of offshore production equipment
  • Perform and evaluate prototype tests and contribute to research projects
  • Possibilities to go offshore as a Field engineer to support the execution phase of the work you have prepared. 

What we expect from you

  • BSc or MSc degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering or Geology, preferably in combination with relevant experience out of study projects, traineeships or assignments.
  • Interest in soil investigation, soil mechanics and foundation engineering
  • Basic knowledge of CAD or Inventor and/or numerical modelling software, in particular Plaxis, Itasca or Abaqus
  • Good command of the English language, both written and spoken
  • Team player with high sense of responsibility
  • Willingness to work offshore and eager get your ideas across the table
