The Project Cost Controller works within the Project Planning & Cost Control Department. The department is an integral part of the Project Management division that supports projects undertaken by Allseas, providing both planning/scheduling expertise and cost analysis reports detailing the company’s (financial) performance on projects. Cost Control serves as the lynch pin between the Business and the Finance Department.

Your role

You will be part of a diverse team of 12 Project Cost Controllers (9 in the Netherlands, 2 in Australia and 1 in Malaysia). The Project Cost Controller reports directly to the Unit Head Project Cost Control.

Each Project Cost Controller is responsible for 3–6 projects (heavy lift or pipelay) and acts as the ‘financial conscience’ of the project team, setting-up, reporting, analysing and forecasting project results and managing cost-related variations.

We are constantly improving our cost control practices, e.g., by standardising, simplifying and automating our financial reporting systems and processes. Part of your time will be allocated to the continuous improvement of related practices and supporting the company’s digitalisation through smooth integration and optimisation of our new SAP ERP system. While working on specific projects, you will also report to the respective Project Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day to day finance and administrative support to your project teams;
  • Prepare a monthly forecast of expected costs and revenues for the remaining part of the project;
  • Analyze and explain the main deviations from the project budget on a monthly basis;
  • Supply the Treasurer with a monthly cash flow overview of costs and revenues (actual and forecast);
  • Assist the Project Manager in the preparation of Variation Order Requests and Internal Budget Revisions;
  • Control the timely and correct invoicing to clients and follow up on overdue receivables;
  • Prepare the project financial overall reporting and close out;
  • Support and initiate continuous improvement of our project control processes and cost reports;
  • Play an important role in the integration of companies new SAP ERP system.

What we expect from you

  • Good knowledge of project cost control techniques;
  • Minimum 3 years' project cost control experience, preferably in an offshore environment;
  • MSc / BSc degree;
  • Good communication skills;
  • ERP software experience;
  • SAP implementation experience is considered a “big” plus.
