Our HR Crew Department in Essen, Belgium, is looking for an energetic, hands-on and enthusiastic We are HR Crew Consultant.. In this role, you support and advise management, vessel management, vessel personnel and relevant departments on all crew related matters. Your decision-making and judgement are key, and help ensure the vessels are effectively staffed with skilled and dedicated personnel. After all, our versatile fleet of vessels is nothing without its crew.

Your role

Our ideal candidate will have previous experience in a supporting HR role, with excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads. As well as providing support and advice on crew related manners, you are actively involved in the recruitment, assessment, introduction and training of new crew, process and maintain documentation related to crew contracts and follow up on illness of crewmembers.

As HR Crew Consultant, you also maintain contacts with recruitment and crewing agencies, and various government entities (departments of labour, immigration, embassies etc.) around the world. You will ensure a cost effective use of manpower in terms of direct labour cost (salary and benefits) and operational labour cost (travel, expatriation, etc.).

What we expect from you

To succeed in this role, you are a resilient team player with a hands-on mentality and good communication skills in both Dutch and English. You can juggle multiple tasks in a hectic work environment, but know how to prioritise when the moment arises. 

Ideally you have:

  • HBO degree in HR or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a marine or offshore environment
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft applications
