Internship - FPGA processing

Internship - FPGA processing

To stay ahead of the industry, we are developing tomorrow’s technology today, transforming bold ideas into state-of-the-art solutions to meet the market’s ever changing needs. Do you trust your own vision and have the courage to pursue it? Then join the thinkers, leaders and visionaries at Allseas!

Assignment: Research various acceleration and optimisation techniques for data processing.

We are searching for students with a passion for FPGA data processing to assist our talented R&D team in Eindhoven with the development of non-destructive testing (NDT) equipment for weld inspection. This equipment generates large data streams (130 MB/s) that need to be processed, analysed, and visualised within a limited timeframe. Massive parallel computing techniques like CUDA, OpenCL and C++ AMP have the potential to provide big speed improvements, but an FPGA implementation can most likely offer an even greater speed improvement.

If you have a healthy interest in FPGA development and like to research various techniques to improve the processing speed of our algorithms, than we are looking for you!

Your role

  • Research and explore FPGA data processing techniques
  • Implement proof of concepts and benchmark applications
  • Port our existing algorithms to FPGA implementations
  • Discuss your findings and conclusions with the software team
  • Follow Agile (Scrum/Kanban) engineering practices

What we expect from you

  • B.Eng., BSc or MSc student with a background in Computer Science, Embedded Systems, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Self-critical and self-correcting
  • Eagerness to learn, try, fail and explore
  • Team player in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Affinity with FPGA programming and FPGA development boards
  • Good command the English language, both written and spoken

Beneficial experience

  • C# and the .NET framework is preferred
  • MATLAB
  • Signal processing

What we offer you

  • A technical playground with a lot of freedom for personal growth and development
