Project Controller

As Project Controller you works within the Project Planning & Cost Control Department. This team, with 12 Cost Controllers and 12 Project Planners (20 in the Netherlands, 2 in Australia, 2 in Malaysia and 1 vacancy in Houston - USA) is an integral part of the Project Management division that supports projects undertaken by Allseas, providing both planning/scheduling expertise and cost analysis reports detailing the company’s (financial) project performance.

Project Control serves as the lynch pin between the Project Team and Project & Finance Management; You will be located with the Project Management Team in Houston, controlling the regional (offshore pipelay) projects and report to the Unit Head Project Planning in Delft, The Netherlands. 

The role includes developing and maintaining the schedule and act as the ‘financial conscience’ of the project team, setting-up, reporting, analysing and forecasting project results. 

We are constantly improving our project control practices, e.g., by standardising, simplifying and automating our systems and processes. Part of your time will be allocated to the continuous improvement of related practices and supporting the company’s digitalisation through smooth integration and optimisation of our new SAP ERP system.

Your role

  • Co-ordinate project planning activities for the complex projects;
  • Translate the proposal schedule into the project schedule;
  • Initiate the onshore scope planning and co-ordinate input from other disciplines, offices and/or sub-contractors;
  • Issue initial schedule(s) internally for review and/or approval;
  • Create high profile reports for publication, like project bar charts, histograms, s-curves & Earned Value reports;
  • Maintain the schedule, gather & enter progress and forecast & report to project team, management and client;
  • Interact with seasonal schedule planner in order to synchronise projects’ timings and durations;
  • Assist with development of integrated (resource) planning system and Earned Value management and reports;
  • Provide day to day finance and administrative support to your project teams;
  • Prepare a monthly forecast of expected costs and revenues for the remaining part of the project;
  • Analyze and explain the main deviations from the project budget on a monthly basis;
  • Supply the Treasurer with a monthly cash flow overview of costs and revenues (actual and forecast);
  • Assist the Project Manager in the preparation of Variation Order Requests and Internal Budget Revisions;
  • Control the timely and correct invoicing to clients and follow up on overdue receivables;
  • Prepare the project financial reporting and close out;
  • Support and initiate continuous improvement of our project control processes, including the new SAP ERP system.

What we expect from you

  • Good knowledge of project planning & cost control techniques;
  • Minimum 3+ years' project control experience, preferably in an offshore environment;
  • MSc / BSc degree;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Primavera 6 and ERP (Oracle and/or SAP) software experience;
  • Advanced Excel skills;
  • A hands-on, no-nonsense mentality and an ability to work on own initiative.
