Heavy Lift Engineer

Heavy Lift Engineer

Allseas is a world-leading contractor in the offshore energy market, with dynamism, rapid progress and pioneering spirit at its core. To stay ahead of the industry, we are developing tomorrow’s technology today, transforming bold ideas into state-of-the-art solutions to meet the market’s ever changing needs.

Our heavy lift vessel Pioneering Spirit is a game-changer. Built to install and remove entire offshore platforms in a single lift, the world’s largest construction vessel boasts versatility and capability unrivalled anywhere in the offshore industry. Fitted with unique motion-compensation and single-lift systems, the vessel has lifted in excess of 200,000 t of platform weight since its launch in 2016.

Now we have a great opportunity for a talented and ambitious starting Heavy Lift Engineer to join our highly skilled, multidisciplinary “Studies & Tenders” team. With a creative mix of junior and senior Heavy Lift Engineers, Structural Engineers, Naval Engineers and Draftsmen, this team performs critical engineering and feasibility analyses, and prepares key aspects of contract tenders for projects executed by Pioneering Spirit.

Your role

Based in Delft, the Netherlands, you oversee the basic engineering for the safe, single-lift removal or installation of platform topsides and jackets for both the oil & gas and renewable industries. Working closely with Unit Heads and Lead Engineers, you design execution plans for future projects, identify the optimal preparation scope for installations and removals and perform on-site surveys and visual inspections.

Undertaking the surveys and inspections yourself offers the chance to “heli in” to the field, stay on platforms and see first-hand what you are analysing, and use that experience to develop the best solution for both the client and Allseas.

  • Investigate the possibilities: perform FEED and feasibility studies to find the best solutions for single-lift installation or removal of large topsides and jackets
  • Prepare the solutions: write method and execution statements for commercial bids
  • Visit the sites: execute inspections to determine platform condition and required preparation scope
  • Brainstorm: interface with various disciplines (project team, crew, subcontractors, certification authorities, marine warranty surveyor) to define efficient and cost effective solutions and provide engineering support
  • Client contact: define project requirements and present project deliverables; use your imagination and our equipment to ensure the client gets what they wants
  • Develop the timeline: platform preparations, leg cutting, lift, transportation, transfer to barge, yard preparations and load-in
  • Learn and improve: keep up to date with the latest developments and use the knowledge and experienced gained offshore for future studies and tenders

What we expect from you
