Survey Support Engineer

The Survey Support Engineer is an office-based member and works within the ROV Unit, part of the Technical Department (TD). The TD’s objective is to efficiently manage the maintenance, repair and modifications of all vessels, yards and equipment, to provide the best technical service and support to the company on and offshore and to stay ahead of the development of new techniques, changing rules and regulations and client requirements.

The Survey Support Engineer has the task to maintain, test, repair and prepare the electronic equipment used to perform offshore survey, positioning and remote intervention tasks. With sufficient experience and knowledge gained (in depth or general) and proven capability in the field, the Survey Support Engineer may be eligible for the title of Senior Survey Support Engineer at the discretion of the supervisor and Management.

Your role

Job objectives

Ensure the timely and effective maintenance, testing, installation and integration of survey and ROV equipment.

Job specific tasks

  • Testing of equipment prior to shipment/mobilisation;
  • Perform equipment calibrations;
  • Fault-finding and maintenance of equipment and data network;
  • Liaise with the on-board Survey Engineers during operations;
  • Equipment administration, reporting and log keeping including tracking of equipment;
  • Testing and interfacing of survey sensors and systems to vessel, ROV, online and offline systems;
  • Adhere to maintenance (preventive-maintenance) schedule for all equipment and communicate this with Supervisor Survey Engineering.
  • Communicate with the Unit Head ROV, Supervisor Survey Support Engineering and Asset manager on all technical issues.

What we expect from you

  • MTS electronics degree (HNC level);
  • Knowledge of analogue electronics, interfacing techniques, as well as digital signal processing.
  • Preferably experience in offshore survey industry with pipeline and/or subsea construction projects;
  • Preferably experience working with ROVs, acoustic positioning and general survey systems;
  • Diagnostic-, fault-finding and repair capabilities;
  • Preparing work packages.
