We are looking for an enthusiastic Field Engineer who combines excellent communication skills with technical insight and is project oriented and able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment to join our Pipeline Engineering Department in Delft, the Netherlands. As part of a highly skilled, multidisciplinary team, your focus is preparatory work such as design, analyses, working procedures, material take off and off shore engineering support in relation to Allseas projects, such as removal projects executed by Allseas’ record-breaking single-lift vessel Pioneering Spirit.

As a Field Engineer, you are in a schedule of 5 weeks on the vessel and 5 weeks off combined with a total of minimum 8 weeks in the office over multiple stints. The 8 weeks in the office are essential for your role as an interface between the Installation Engineers in the office and the Superintendent and Barge Foreman on the ship. Therefore, you will start in the role of Installation Engineer for training purposes before you move in your role of Field Engineer. We are looking for a project oriented engineer, technically savvy, who can work well under pressure, juggle and prioritise multiple projects and adjust work accordingly, often against tight deadlines.

Your role

  • Define the scope of work, methodologies and progress;
  • Perform detailed calculations and simulations using the appropriate computer software;
  • Develop procedures and analyses and prepare material requirements;
  • Liaise with the Installation Engineers onshore on operational matters during preparatory phase, mobilisation and during installation phase;
  • Ensure the Manager Engineering (or delegate) receives regular status updates on the progress of work;
  • Ensure the work offshore is prepared and executed according procedures, and liaise with the offshore Superintendent on the technical requirements of the project;
  • Provide ongoing support during the offshore phase;
  • Prepare relevant input for the engineering close out report;
  • Provide input and feedback to improve departmental standards, working methods and guidelines.

What we expect from you

  • BSc or MSc degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent;
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in project engineering;
  • Experience to work in a project driven organization;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Good command of the English language, both written and spoken;
  • Willingness to travel and work offshore in a fixed schedule;
  • Affinity with the offshore and/or marine environment is preferable.
