R&D Mechanical Engineer (medior)

For our office in Delft, the Netherlands, we are looking for Mechanical Engineers. The Mechanical Engineer works within the Innovations Department and is responsible for the mechanical development and design of new and/or modified equipment for Allseas’ pipelay vessels.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our highly skilled, multidisciplinary Innovations Department in Delft, the Netherlands. Mechanical Engineers are responsible for new construction designs for Allseas’ vessels and equipment. From design to fabrication to commissioning, you are involved in the whole development process.

From the moment that you start, you will responsible for you own projects and will provide guidance and support for starters as students. As your career develops, you will take on bigger and more challenging projects.

Your role

• Prepare specifications, requirements, and define scopes of work for the mechanical part of equipment design
• Design and develop (concepts for) new equipment
• Prepare analysis, evaluations, calculations and/or sketches for the development of new equipment or improvement/modifications to existing equipment
• Develop, build and test prototypes of new equipment
• Prepare design and test reports
• Take the initiative in new innovations
• Give guidance and inspiration to young engineers
• Communicate your results to your supervisor, management and vessel crew

What we expect from you

• BSc or MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Experience with equipment design in an offshore environment
• Experience in 3D CAD programmes
• Good command of the English language, both written and spoken
• 5+ years of relevant work experience
• Experience in working in multi-disciplinary teams
• Affinity with innovation and out-of-the-box thinking Occasionally work abroad and/or offshore (a few weeks per year)
