We are seeking a Unit Head Crew Training to join our P&O Crew Department in Essen, Belgium. Our Crew Training Department co-ordinates all competence and safety training for offshore employees and crew related sub-contractors. The Unit Head Crew Training reports directly to the Department Head P&O Vessels.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience with strategic training policy in an offshore environment, supervising and is organised with excellent organisational skills.

Your role

• Fully understand the business strategy in order to allow for alignment of actions and to ensure effectiveness and return on investment;
• Systematically map learning & development needs of the organisation, department and individuals or groups of employees; 
• Develop and maintain training agency relationships and negotiate rates;
• Develop and maintain a training system;
• Discuss and amend the company’s training matrices with all parties involved
• Report to Management on the status of training compliance
• Work closely with the P&O Consultants to ensure appropriate guidance, support and advise with respect to realising organisational, departmental and individual objectives;
• Strive for ongoing development of P&O/L&D initiatives, by indicating opportunities to improve our services/processes and proactively providing solutions.

What we expect from you

• HBO degree Personnel Management or equivalent
• Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience, preferably in offshore environment
• Good command of the English language, both written and spoken
• Good communication skills
• Cost awareness
• Able to set priorities
• Excellent organisational skills
• Accurate
• Flexible
• Hands on mentality
